Meet giant insects and gigantic orchids at GeoCenter Møns Klint
Let the kids loose at GeoCenter Møns Klint and explore nature through interactive experiences. Here you can get up close to biodiversity and all the life that exists around the cliff. Also take a trip to the 3D cinema or try VR, where you experience nature in a completely new way.
If you and your children are absolutely crazy about animals, plants and nature, then GeoCenter Møns Klint is an obvious stop. Here you can experience nature up close and gain insight into all the life that exists right around you.
Through interactive exhibitions and experiences, nature comes alive in a way that sparks curiosity in both young and old. There is plenty to explore here, no matter the season.
At eye level with the animals and plants of the forest floor
Nature on Møn is not just beautiful, it is unique. The very special ecosystem on Eastern Møn is so diverse and lush that it has been recognized by UNESCO.
In the exhibition ‘Everything is Connected – Biodiversity on High Møn’, the GeoCenter’s skilled nature guides explain exactly what makes nature on Møn so special. The guides are passionate about everything related to animals and plants and are great at teaching and inspiring visitors, both young and old.
The exhibition consists of interactive installations based on the nature of Møn. In the exhibition, you will, for example, see the world’s largest orchid, which is three metres tall. You may be surprised by how both fierce and wonderful wildlife on Møn is when you encounter the enlarged insects in the exhibition. A fun experience for the kids in the exhibition is that they can be transformed into butterflies!
The exhibition is poetic and sensory, and you will gain a completely new perception of and interest in nature. You can test your own knowledge of biodiversity at the GeoCenter and learn how you can help leave nature in a better condition than you found it, so that everyone can enjoy it.
Mysteries of prehistoric times
In the exhibition ‘Where Denmark Was Born’, you and the children come face to face with the past and its many fascinating creatures and untamed natural forces. You travel 70 million years back in time to an era when Denmark was a tropical sea filled with marine reptiles, squids and billions of algae. Hand in hand, you move through the Cretaceous period and the Tertiary period, when most of life on Earth died as a result of a meteor impact and subsequent volcanic activity – here you discover how these events quite literally helped lay the foundation for Denmark.
At the very end of the exhibition, you step into the Ice Age. Here you witness how glaciers pushed up the chalk layers and formed, among other things, Møns Klint, where you stand today.
The exhibition is a dynamic mix of interactive elements and inspiring storytelling.

3D Cinema and VR Action
If you are still hungry for more nature after experiencing the wild exhibitions, then sit back in the impressive 3D cinema. In the new film about fungi, you get up close to fungi in all shapes and colours, one of the oldest living life forms on our planet. Meet the many prehistoric creatures from the Cretaceous sea and watch them swim right towards you in the underwater film! You can also step into the secret world of insects with the film about butterflies. Here you get a behind-the-scenes look and see the life of the monarch butterfly from larva to beautiful butterfly. Last, but far from least, you will, among other things, hear the sound of colossal footsteps in the film about dinosaurs, where the several-metre-tall dinos take centre stage – how many of them do you recognise from home?
A very special experience at the GeoCenter is the two VR games that get your adrenaline pumping! You can, for example, put on a pair of VR goggles and take the ‘Møn Trial of Courage’. Here, with the help of VR magic, you step out to the edge of the cliff and look about one hundred metres down over the drop. Do you dare complete the challenge?
If high speed is your thing, then you should try a flight through the eyes of the peregrine falcon. In this VR game, you choose your own route as you hunt for the day’s prey at a top speed of over 100 km/h.
Palaeontologists for a day
At GeoCenter Møns Klint, you both see and hear all about the groundbreaking animals that lived on our planet and in our seas millions of years ago.
In the exhibition, you dive deep into the chalk layers, but you should definitely go out and find your very own traces and evidence of prehistoric sea animals. Down on the beach at the foot of Møns Klint, fossils can be found buried among the many small stones on the shore. Join a knowledgeable guide down the reconstructed staircase and go hunting for fossils and “vættelys” – probably one of the most unique souvenirs you can bring home from a different and inspiring family trip!
When you leave GeoCenter Møns Klint, your view of the nature around you will not be the same as it was before you arrived – because now you have been at eye level with flowers and insects, travelled millions of years back in time and seen how Denmark was formed.
