Gavnø Castle
The beautiful Rococo castle of Gavnø in South Zealand offers a fairy-tale experience for all. Visit not only the castle, but also the park, the church, the brewery and the Go Fly courses.

Gavnø Castle is a beautiful fairy-tale castle in the Rococo style, built more than 600 years ago. The castle originally served as a convent for aristocratic virgins, and today is one of Næstved’s landmarks, offering lots of exciting events all year round. Here you can experience one of South Zealand & Møn’s real gems!
Take the tour around the castle, where among other things, you will find Scandinavia’s most colourful church room in Slotskapellet, the castle chapel. Then arrive at Northern Europe’s largest private collection of paintings, containing about 1,000 pieces – including some of Scandinavia’s oldest preserved portraits from around 1460. Move on to explore the special exhibition and discover the completely renovated and beautiful halls and rooms.
An idyllic and exciting park
Venture out into the romantic castle park with beautiful flower beds and views of the water. In late April/early May, you can experience Denmark’s biggest tulip festival at Gavnø, with thousands of beautiful tulips in a variety of colours. Later in the year, the tulips are replaced by beautiful, fragrant lilies when the Gavnø Lily Festival starts in late July.
The castle park also offers many other exciting experiences – from African mountain goats to its very own pirate land. You can go for a walk in ’The Garden of the 6 Senses’ (“De 6 Sansers Have”) or the romantic Rose Garden. Visit the doll exhibition in the idyllic, half-timbered house with more than 3,000 dolls. The park also has a pleasant butterfly area with many different types of butterflies.

Feel the adrenalin in the treetops
As part of the castle grounds, you will find the treetop course Gavnø GoFly, with the highest course located 15 metres above the ground, while the longest zip wire is 149 metres long. There is ample opportunity to get your heart pumping when you hang in the safety equipment and go through various challenges, or when you fling yourself off the platform to reach the other end of the zip wire. Of course, there are also courses for smaller children. The children’s courses are no higher than 4 metres above the ground. Safety is top notch and everyone who wants to play Tarzan for a day must go through a short introductory course.

Denmark’s only castle brewery
If you're visiting Gavnø with a larger group, a visit to the Castle Brewery is a must. It’s the only one of its kind in Denmark and must be booked in advance. Established in 2018, the brewery produces an impressive selection of 14 different types of beer. Located in the authentic, historic, and rustic surroundings of the old 19th-century farm buildings, the brewery is primarily used for group visits and can also be booked for weddings and private events. Beer tastings typically take place here when arranged in advance.
Looking for a unique venue for your special day? The Castle Brewery can also be booked for weddings and celebrations.
Gavnø also offers a delightful selection of homemade food, cakes, and beverages. At Café Tulipanen, the menu is full of tempting treats made with ingredients sourced from the castle’s own fields and livestock.
